Liftmaster 8550 garage door opener. A while ago, it started not working when I pressed the activator button (or remote). There is a single click heard within the unit and no motor activity. The error displayed was Error Code 15, which resolved to a Motor Control error and the documentation says to replace the logic board. I did that. I worked for a little while and then the same thing happened, but sometimes it work work and sometimes it would not (when it did not, it was always Error Code 15 and the single click with no motor action). Then it stopped working at all, same situation. I replaced the logic board again. This time, it did not start working at all. All of the documentation I have seen says this error means to replace the logic board, but that is clearly not the problem.

Liftmaster support responds back to check the door itself for obstructions, etc and I did. All works as it should; the tension seems right, the door opens smoothly and closes smoothly. I called in a garage door service company and they confirmed there was nothing wrong with the door itself. They were also unable to determine the problem with the unit, as they would have said the logic board, which I already replaced. Otherwise, they were no help.
I just gave my unit a long power disconnect (unplugged, and disconnected the battery backup). I let it that way for an hour or so. When I reconnected it to power (just the AC), it began to work. It has now worked thru ~20 up/down cycles (after programming the limits). I have not had it fail with an error code 15 yet. Note that this did happen the first time I replaced the logic board (but not the second time). So, since it is working (for now, anyway), that seems important to note as the motor seems to work just fine. Also, after ~10 of these up/down cycles, I did reconnect the battery backup, as I wanted to see if that would cause it to fail again. It did not. It continued to work for another ~10 cycles. And continues to work.
