Tabitha Suzuma was born in London, the eldest of five children. She attended a French school in the UK and grew up bilingual. However, she hated school and would sit at the back of the class and write stories, which she got away with because her teachers thought she was taking notes. Aged fourteen, Tabitha left school against her parents' wishes. She continued her education through distance learning and went on to study French Literature at King's College London.
After graduating, Tabitha trained as a primary school teacher and whilst teaching full-time, wrote her first novel.

From Where I Stand (Literature & Fiction) Description: Raven is a deeply disturbed teenager, who, after witnessing the death of his mother, is placed in foster care. The Russells do their best to earn his trust, but only little Ella manages to get through to him. Meanwhile, at school, bullies are making his life a living hell. An unexpected companion comes in the form of Lotte, a classmate bored by her 'ordinary' friends. Together, they track down Raven's mum's killer, with the goal of exposing him to the police. But their carefully crafted plan goes dangerously wrong and suddenly nothing is as it seems. Everything is falling apart and, ultimately, there is only one, final way out.
Forbidden (Literature & Fiction) Description: Sixteen-year-old Maya and seventeen-year-old Lochan have never had the chance to be 'normal'. Having pulled together for years to take care of their younger siblings while their wayward, drunken mother leaves them to fend alone, they have had to become much more than simply brother and sister. And now, they have fallen in love. But this is a love that can never be allowed, a love that will have devastating consequences.. ‘How can something so wrong feel so right?’
A Note of Madness (Literature & Fiction) Description: Life as a student is good for Flynn. As one of the top pianists at the Royal College of Music, he is put forward for a big concert, the opportunity of a lifetime. But beneath the surface, things are changing. On a good day he feels full of energy and life, but on a bad day being alive is worse than being dead. Sometimes he wants to compose and practise all night, at other times he can't even get out of bed. His flatmate Harry tries to understand but is increasingly confused by Flynn's erratic mood swings. His friend Jennah tries to help, but Flynn finds it difficult to be around her - she evokes in him feelings that he can't accept. With the pressure of the forthcoming concert and the growing concern of his family and friends, emotions come to a head. Sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better.
A Voice in the Distance (Literature & Fiction) Description: In his final year at the Royal College of Music, star pianist Flynn Laukonen has the world at his feet. He has moved in with his girlfriend Jennah and is already getting concert bookings for what promises to be a glittering career. Yet he knows he is skating on thin ice - only two small pills a day keep him from plunging back into the whirlpool of manic depression that once threatened to destroy him. Unexpectedly his friends seem to be getting annoyed with him for no apparent reason, he needs less and less sleep, he is filled with unbridled energy. Events begin to spiral out of control and Flynn suddenly finds himself in hospital, heavily sedated, carnage left behind him. The medication isn't working any more, the dose needs to be increased, and depression strikes again, this time with horrific consequences. His freedom is snatched away and the medicine's side-effects threaten to jeopardize his chances in one of the biggest piano competitions of his life. It seems like he has to make a choice between the medication and his career. But in all this he has forgotten the one person he would give his life for, and Flynn suddenly finds himself facing the biggest sacrifice of all. Told in alternating chapters from both Flynn and Jennah's points of view, this is the breathtaking, poignant sequel to A Note of Madness.

Of course! But I’m struggling to find your question. I’m new to the Goodreads phone app and only just learning how to navigate this site on it!

did the third resolve the ending from the second?

I always intended to write a third but unfortunately my publishers weren't interested. :(

Glad you enjoyed it! Afraid the series is something Goodreads decided to make up!

Pleasure. Glad it moved you! :)
Thanks for accepting my friend request, Tabitha! I recently read 'Forbidden', and let me say that not many writers could have been able to write about such a controversial issue with your exquisite gentleness. I loved it, despite its bitter end! :( I'll definitely check your other works out! x

Tabitha,
I am honored that you chose the song that I suggested on FB. 'Forbidden' is one of those soul altering books that I will carry with me always..

I have just finished reading Forbidden.
Wow.
Such a taboo subject. You put such an interesting and sensitive light on the subject. I think you are really brave for writing a story based on a controversial issue such as 'incest'/ inter-family couples. Blew my mind.
Yes, i have read 'A voice in the distance'. I loved it. I think i did prefer the first book as i could relate more to Flynn than his girlfriend and i felt as though it was slightly more focused on her in the second book. It was cool to see the whole situation through another pair of eyes though. Awesome book.
I was wondering if i could ask you a question: Since you have the experience of being a mixed-race person (assuming that you also 'identify' as one) Why do you always create white characters?
Of course, there isn't anything wrong with this, but most british authors seem to do the same and it would be really cool to read about a teenager/young adult of slightly different experience. (Obviously, Flynn is both)
I'm not sure if you find this relevant as i understand your stories are often based on deep, emotional situations and even if you were to write in a .. let us say .. japanese character - it would not make that much, if any, difference to the actual story line.
I just think that you are such an amazing author and you have this startling ability to change points of view . if anybody was going to write a powerful story about culture clash or identity, i know that you would do it the best !
However, just portraying a mixed-raced/person of colour as an average teenager with problems unrelated to their heritage would be even better. It would help challenge many misconceptions/stereotypes of ethnic teenagers in the UK.
I hope you understand what i mean.
No matter what ethnicity your characters are, i will always love your work anyway.
Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou for all of your books. But especially A Note Of Madness.
You are my favorite author.
Cannot wait to read whatever you create next!
Zacai.

Hi Vicki,
Thank you so much for your lovely message. I am so glad Forbidden had a strong impact on you. It was a pretty harrowing book to write, to be honest, and I more or less sobbed my way through the final chapters myself!
None of my books have been published in the US yet. However, Forbidden comes out at the end of June. Depending on its reception, my US publishers might then publish my previous books.
However you should be able to get all of them online with free worldwide shipping from The Book Depository:
http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/searc..
I look forward to reading your review!

Hello,
Thank you for adding me. I finished Forbidden two days ago. I keep trying to talk about it. I start sentences and leave them unfinished because I don't have an adequate adjective. Hollowing is close, but I may mean hallowing. Shattering is a close second.
You have written a very very important book. Thank you for it. I am only beginning to process the impact it has had on me as both a human being and a writer. I hope to have a full review out within the week.
Your books are very hard to find here in the US. I very much want to read A Note of Madness but cannot currently locate a copy. It will be worth the wait, though, I'm sure.

Hi Zacai,
Many thanks for your kind message. I'm so glad A Note of Madness was able to help you in some way. I'm so glad you are feeling better now.
Have you read the sequel - A Voice in the Distance?
Take care and thanks again. :)

Hi Tabitha, i think you are amazing !
Ive read A Note Of Madness atleast five times in the past 6 months, i cannot begin to describe how much it helped me to understand my own clinical depression and not feel like i was struggling with it alone.
I am now feeling much better but i still love this book.
Thankyou!

You're welcome, Jasmine and Petra. Thanks for reading!

Thanks for adding me! I read your book Forbidden, and I really love your descriptive style. It's stunning. :)
